Veteran's Day Tribute 2014

Maine State Police Veteran's Day Tribute 2014

The Maine State Police pauses today to recognize and thank all those men and women who have served, or are currently serving their country in the US Armed Forces.  Since 1921, members of the Maine State Police have proudly served their State and many have also served in the US Armed Forces. While it is almost impossible to document and memorialize all those who served in both roles, we take this opportunity to highlight some members of the MSP who were wounded or killed in action during WWII.  These officers took a leave from their duties as Maine Troopers to serve their country in the world theater of war.

Trooper Lewis E. Howard - Hodgdon, ME.
Killed in Action - Aug. 1943

Trooper Harold Ericksen - Portland, ME.

Colonel Henry Weaver - Augusta, ME.
Wounded in Action - 1944

1943 - Chief of the Maine State Police, Colonel Henry Weaver is surrounded by members of the MSP as he prepares to depart for service with the US Army in WWII.  Col. Weaver was badly injured in a jeep crash while deployed and was unable to return to service with the State Police.
