NATURE: Metal Theft and Suspicious Fire

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: The State Police and State Fire Marshall’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance with an ongoing investigation in Oakfield.  On 5/8/14 at approximately 0300 hours the Oakfield Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 623 River Rd.  Later in the morning, State Police and the State Fire Marshall’s Office was called to respond after it was determined there was copper pipes and tools missing from the residence and the cause of the fire seemed suspicious.  The residence is a summer residence owned by Shirley Smith of Arizona and was insured.  The theft and fire investigations are ongoing and the State Police and Fire Marshall’s Office encourage anyone with information or traveling the River Rd early this morning to call the State Police Barracks in Houlton at 532-5400 for Trooper Dennis Quint or FMO Investigator Ed Archer.  DEP assisted Oakfield Fire with the cleanup at the scene.
