Arrest on Warrants - Lewiston

NEWS RELEASE from the Maine Department of Public Safety
from Spokesman Steve McCausland - 626-3811

State Police now say they believe another man was driving an SUV that troopers chased in Durham yesterday. The new information comes as the former owner of the SUV called troopers last night to say he had sold the vehicle to a young man in recent weeks. The new owner of the SUV also took the vehicle’s license plates. Police now believe the former owner – Edwin Duquette – was not involved in the chase. Duquette called State Police after seeing his photo on Facebook and in news reports.

Last night, troopers tracked down and arrested 35 year old Wayne King of Waldoboro on two outstanding warrants, not related to the chase. King is believed to now own the SUV and was found hiding in a storage area of a Lewiston apartment house. The arrest warrants are for not paying fines and for a probation violation. The SUV has not yet been located. King’s driver’s license also is suspended and has been a number of times in the past . King is now being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.

Anyone with info on King or the whereabouts of the SUV – a 1999 purple Chevrolet Tracker - is asked to call State Police in Gray at 657-3030.
