Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs - Carthage

A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Carthage man on Friday, when State Police discovered marijuana, cocaine, prescription pills, and a large amount of cash. Tr. Randy Hall stopped the vehicle of John Ellis Sr., 69, on Rt. 142 Carthage for speed. Tr. Hall smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle. Located in the vehicle were an undisclosed amount of marijuana, cocaine, many assorted prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and $2500 of suspected drug money. 

Troopers searched Ellis’s residence  and more cocaine, prescription pills, and $3900 of suspected drug money were recovered. Ellis was booked on a charge of trafficking in schedule drugs, a Class B felony, Hall said. Ellis was transported to the Franklin County Jail and is being held on a $50,000 bail.
