NATURE: Burglary/Theft of Firearms

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 3/14/15 at approximately 1200 Hours, Trooper Corey Hafford responded to an Eagle Lake residence where a homeowner reported a building he owned had been broken into and 5 of his firearms had been stolen. Investigation disclosed that the firearms had been stolen at some point within the last two weeks. The investigation led to the Waldo County town of Palermo where 22 year old Anthony Hawkins was arrested by Maine State Troopers from Troop D with the assistance of Deputies from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. All 5 firearms were recovered by the Troopers. They included 4 handguns and an AK-47. Hawkins was transported to the Waldo County Jail and will be charged with Violation of Probation / Burglary / Theft / Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
