LOCATION: I-295 – Southbound, Portland
NATURE: Personal Injury MV Crash – MSP Cruiser Involved

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

A Maine State Trooper was slightly injured this morning when her cruiser was struck from behind on Interstate 295 in Portland, just south of Tukey’s Bridge.  Trooper Jessica Shorey has been released from the Maine Medical Center where she was treated for neck and back pain.  Tr. Shorey was seated in her cruiser when it was struck from behind by another car whose operator lost control on the slippery road.  There was a layer of light snow and black ice in the area at the time.  Tr. Shorey had been parked in the southbound breakdown lane at the site assisting two other motorists whose cars had slid of I-295 earlier.  The incident restricted I-295 to one lane which caused a significant traffic back-up.
