NATURE: Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

TOWN, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Winslow, ME.
VEHICLE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL: 2003 / Volvo / 4dr.
ALCOHOL/DRUG INVOLVED (Y/N/UNK): UNK
SPEED INVOLVED (Y/N): Y – Roads were slippery at the time.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At approximately 0428 HRS State Police were called to a single vehicle crash on the Maple Ridge Rd. in China.  Investigation revealed 22-year-old Jordan D. Maroon of Winslow was operating a 2003 Volvo sedan when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve.  Maroon’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole on the driver’s side of the car.  Maroon died as a result of the injuries sustained in the impact.  The car’s speed and slippery road conditions were factors in the crash. 

The State Police reminds motorist to reduce speed during inclement weather and on snow/ice covered roads.
