SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
At about 11:25 PM on Saturday, April 5th, Trooper Michael Smith was patrolling Route 302 in Bridgton.  He clocked a vehicle (2006 silver Lincoln Zepher) travelling east towards Naples going 74 MPH in the posted 55 MPH zone.  Tpr. Smith turned around and caught up to the vehicle about 2 miles later.  The vehicle pulled over but as Tpr. Smith approached the driver, the vehicle sped away.  Tpr. Smith pursued the vehicle a short distance down Route 302 before turning right on Halcyon Lane, a dirt road leading into a number of residences.  Tpr. Smith located the vehicle but the driver had fled, leaving 2 female passengers.  A short time later Cumberland County Deputy Ferriter arrived and the subject was located.  He was arrested and charged as indicated above.  He was also found to be on Federal Probation for failing to register as a sex offender.  His Federal Probation Officer was notified.
