On Wednesday April 2, 2014 at approximately 1230 AM, 27 year old Lamar Meriwether of St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 1997 Western Star tractor trailer owned by Big Rock Transportation LLC of East Peru Indiana.  The tractor trailer unit was traveling North on the Interstate when it veered off the roadway around mile 281 in Dyer Brook and came to rest in the snowbank.  26 year old Michael Taylor was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was asleep in the sleeper portion of the cab.  Meriwether was wearing his seat belt and neither occupant was injured.
The tractor trailer unit was damaged, but was able to be driven from the scene after it was towed out of the ditch later this morning.  The interstate was shut down for a short time during that period.  Tr. Tim Saucier investigated the crash.
