The
State Police Computer Crimes Unit today arrested a Gorham man on child
pornography charges. Micah Maurio, 28, was charged with
dissemination of sexually explicit material of someone under the age of
12. He was arrested at his apartment at 132 Gray Road and taken to the
Cumberland County Jail.
An
initial review of his personal computer showed hundreds
of images of child pornography. His computer was seized and will
be further analyzed by State Police. None of the children depicted are
believed to be from Maine.
Maurio
is a musician and a part time faculty member at the University of Southern
Maine, lecturing on music. He has been under
investigation by the computer crimes unit since October following a tip.
Gorham Police also assisted in the
arrest, which took place at 10:30 am.
Maurio offered no resistance.
