SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 02-16-15 at approximately 0820 hrs Tr. Adam Stoutamyer responded to Rt 1A in Hamlin for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer and a car.  Michel Gauvreau was northbound in a 2011 Freightliner tractor trailer hauling an empty log trailer when he met a southbound Ford car operated by Josh Bresett of Van Buren.  The two vehicles collided head on with the tractor trailer driving over the front of the car and the car then coming to rest under the trailer.
The truck is owned by D.H Giberson and Sons of Arthurette, New Brunswick.
Gauvreau was not injured in the crash.  Josh and his passenger had to extricated from the wreckage by Van Buren Fire Dept. utilizing their Jaws of Life.   Josh was transported by Van Buren Ambulance to Cary Medical Center for serious injuries and was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.  Also in Josh’s vehicle was his wife, Heather Bresett and 2 yr. old son.  Heather was also transported to Cary Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries and their infant son was uninjured.

Tr. Stoutamyer was assisted at the scene by Tr. Andrew Levesque and Tr. Robert Flynn.

At the time of the accident there was zero visibility with blowing and drifting snow, which was a significant factor in the accident.  Rt 1A was closed down for approximately 3 hrs while the accident was investigated and the vehicles were removed.  The Freightliner sustained damage to the front of the truck, the Ford Fusion was totaled in the crash.
