SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Beltier Marin was operating southbound in the passing lane of I-95 in Dyer Brook while passing vehicles and being followed by Robert Hamilton doing the same. While attempting to switch back into the travel lane, Marin lost control of his vehicle, an unloaded car carrier, and began to jackknife in the roadway. Hamilton, who was traveling behind with a van box loaded with ash forest products, attempted to avoid collision but was unable to do so. Hamilton struck the rear of Marin’s trailer then went off the left side of the roadway into the median. The impact swung Marin’s vehicle around and his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway facing north. Both operators were wearing seatbelts and Hamilton complained of pain to his neck and shoulder areas.

Traveling too fast for existing weather and road conditions are causations factors. The 45 mph speed limit signs were active at the time of the crash. I-95 SB remains reduced to one lane at the crash scene. Recovery of the loaded Hamilton vehicle may take several hours.
