SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On the evening of January 25, 2014 at approximately 11:30 PM Van Buren PD requested assistance from surrounding agencies to look for a blue 2013 Volvo bob tail truck tractor stolen from their town that same evening.  The vehicle was believed to be traveling South from Van Buren.  At approximately 12:50 AM on January 26th, later that same evening, Tr. Rob Flynn encountered the vehicle on Route 1 in Caribou and initiated a stop.  As a result of the stop, 31 year old Matthew Sands of Caribou was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, operating after suspension and other motor vehicle offenses.  Van Buren PD remained the primary investigating agency on the motor vehicle theft while State Police made the vehicle recovery and addressed the criminal traffic related conduct.  The 2013 Volvo truck tractor belongs to Vaillancourt Transport and is valued at $120,000.
