information from PIO Steve McCausland -207-441-6216

State Police have charged a Garland man with killing his girlfriend and her two children whose bodies were discovered in the mobile home they shared Saturday night.  27 year old Keith Coleman was taken into custody midafternoon at an apartment complex on School Street in Bucksport after State Police received a tip. Also located was the minivan that police were also looking for.  The vehicle was parked outside the apartment.   Coleman was transported to the State Police barracks in Bangor for questioning and has been charged with three counts of murder, just before 9 p.m.    He will be taken to the Penobscot County Jail and his first court appearance will be either Monday or Tuesday. The minivan was seized by State Police for processing.

The victims in the domestic violence homicides are 36 year old Christina Sargent and her daughter and son --  8 year old Destiny Sargent and ten year old Duwayne Coke.  The bodies were transported Sunday afternoon to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta, where autopsies will take place Monday. Detectives have not said how they think the family was killed and will await the Medical Examiner’s autopsy results.

Detectives and evidence technicians worked throughout the night after the bodies were found.  The mobile home remains under police guard and detectives plan to return there Monday.
